When it comes to sports all the thoughts of the individuals portray how tough it is to become a national or an international level champion. The national or international level champions carry the responsibilities of representing their teams and their Nations in the world. Their wins and losses always affect the population of the country who gets emotionally attached towards these sportsmen. But, have an individual ever thought, who are the ones responsible to polish and enhance the qualities and talents of the sportsmen? Well, the answer is the coaches and the ‘Performance analysts’ are the ones working behind the scenes to shape the teams that win the hearts of the entire Nation. Sriram Somayajula is one such talented person, who with his keen observational skills not only analyzes the performances of the players but also trains them accordingly.

Sriram Somayajula belongs to Chennai, India but has also lived in Singapore, Australia, and many countries where he worked as a Cricket Performance Analyst. Sriram Somayajula played cricket in the Indian teams but was never able to excel as a cricketer, by profession, so he pursue his career as a Coach and a Performance Analyst on the National and International Levels.

Have you ever considered the role of a sports performance analyst and wondered what it entails? The analyst’s ultimate goal is to provide objective feedback on a team’s or individual’s performance to coaches or players in the hope that this feedback will be used to inform training and tactical decisions and help the team grow and win. Sriram Somayajula has the same job and, being a professional in the field, is currently working as a Head of Coach in the Delhi Capitals team which is one of the eight original teams in the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL). Delhi Capitals, co-owned by the GMR Group and the JSW Group, was founded in 2008 as the Delhi Daredevils before rebranding in December 2018.

Sriram Somayajula states on his website that he has been watching and participating in sports since he was a child. He claims that his love of sports has never waned, but rather grown with each passing year of his life. He has worked on 111 completed assignments involving approximately 8 sports. Cricket is the sport he has analyzed the most, with approximately 5783 cricket matches analyzed. Apart from analyzing cricket matches, he has also studied 528 matches of other sports.
