Interview with Willie Ruffin (@cashmobyp)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Music has always been more than a passion to me. I enjoy making music that tells my story and evokes feelings in the person listening to it. From listening to making my own music has been a journey on its own but it has helped me find my voice. I am grateful to my platform because it has allowed me the space to express myself.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
There will be competition in the industry as there are budding artists surfacing everyday. You just need to focus on your goal and keep pushing yourself to achieve it. Your success comes when you stop comparing yourself with other artists and solely focus on the quality of your music.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Music has been my best friend for as long as I remember. It has stood with me and helped me get through some of the toughest times in my life. I am grateful to it for helping me find my voice and my dreams.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
Having the right idols at the right age can change anyone’s life around. I have had some of the best idols in my time and now I want to set an example for my young fans so they can look up to me for inspiration and then plunge for their dreams.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
I always tell everyone to find a way to be comfortable in their skin because its so easy for the world to break you otherwise. That is why, I adhere to this quote, “They can’t stop me from being who I am and that’s me”
