Interview With VVS FX (@vvs_fx)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I was raised by an American mother and a British father, and my family spent time in London. As a child, he attended Haileybury, a boarding school just outside London. From a young age, I was interested in movie editing and music video editing and would use my father’s Super-8 camera to make shorts. I was influenced by George Lucas’s Star Wars trilogy and by the immersive dystopian films of Ridley Scott. After attending University College London, where I studied English literature and film techniques, I began directing corporate and industrial training videos.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
The funniest story was how I met a UK rapper in a club, where he recognized me and asked me to film a music video for him. After that, we’ve been great business partners for some time.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Honestly, take breaks. Breaks are one of the most important things as it keeps the creative mind flowing. If we as editors lose our creative sense, we’ve already lost ourselves and our business
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Not really. I just worked hard, and my customers spread the word that I was a good music video producer and editor.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I give 15% of my revenue to charities across the world.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
You can only lose what you cling to.”— Buddha. Excellent quote as it explains that if you give up with no prior reason, you haven’t lost anything. You’ve only given up.
