Interview with Victor Jackson (@victormjackson)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I played college basketball for the #1 junior college in the nation (College of Central Florida) I was the captain of the team. While I was there in college I encountered a Bible study. Through that Bible study I started going to church and I felt God speak to me to give up my college basketball scholarship offers to follow after God by pursuing ministry. I gave up my scholarships and started peaching and helping people around the world. I have been preaching for the past 13 years.
Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?
I have the opportunity to preach to millions of people a year. I preached to 37,000 people in the Lucas Oil Stadium July 2017 in Indianapolis, IN.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
A relationship with God is foundational to the longevity of those in ministry. God must be the priority. Rest and balance is important as well. Spending time with family is critical to sustainability.
None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My wife Luisa Jackson has been extremely important to our success in ministry. We have traveled together everywhere as a family. She gave up her potential career in nursing to travel with me full time in ministry. Her and our son James Asher have been vital to our success in preaching and pastoring.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I was the first preacher in the world to go to Minneapolis, MN during the riots surrounding the death of George Floyd in May 2020. I preached and prayed over the police and the protestors. People started getting baptized in Jesus name in the streets of Minneapolis. There was a viral video of me that was seen by well over 5 million people. It brought love and unity. People started getting baptized around the nation. There was love and unity among all nations. It brought peace in a difficult time, CNN reported on the peace that came to the city after I left. The burden that I experienced there is what led my wife and I to move to Orlando, FL to start a church called Bible Center of Orlando. We believe in bringing the good news to the entire world. People watched the video around the world and they were inspired to love and serve people that are different than them. This is center to our vision (Love. Equip. Serve). We have preached and impacted millions encouraging them to love as Jesus loves every person no matter their race, gender, politics, etc. The good news is for everyone. We have had over 30 different nationalities visit our church and experience the love and power of God.
Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Measure your success by your devotion to God not by your opportunities from man.” My entire ministry I wrapped up in the idea that I want to please God more than anything in the world.
