Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
At an early age, I was very fond of music. I grew up listening to a wide variety of music because my dad loves playing music everywhere he goes—my favorite musicians at the time were Will Smith, Puff Daddy & Missy Elliot. I learned how to rap through listening to their music and creating my lyrics. I enjoyed bringing the Lyrics to life. This is how it all started for me.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
When I was 16, I started taking music seriously. I was always in and out of the studio recording songs. One day, I was on a late-night bus returning home from a studio session. I noticed my phone was ringing and it was from a private number. When I answered, a strange voice demanded me to quit music. That’s when I knew I had to give this music thing my all. I felt it was a sign from God. God has big plans for me.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
Stay focused at all times. There are a lot of distractions in the world and many negative people that may not and will not believe in the dream, but it’s not for them to believe in it as long as you know where you want to end up and your goals in the industry. Just keep striving to get there. It isn’t a one-day thing. It can take years to establish yourself as an artist in this industry, but it will all be worth it.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a person you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My mum. When I was starting, she handed me a wad of cash and told me how she believed in me and wanted me to use that money towards my studio session, just anything music-related that could help me achieve my dreams. She was working late nights to feed her kids. Her words of encouragement and help motivate me to make this dream a reality.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
That day will come, but for now, I’m still an upcoming artist, and the little impact I can make, I have done for those close to me and many strangers.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
The dream is free; the hustle is sold separately. This quote speaks a lot of volumes about my life. For me, it’s about the effort you put into whatever you want to do or become in life. How hard you work for it depends on how hard you work. Anyone can have a dream, but are you willing to work to get it?
