Interview with Trent S @7rent.7 (Athlete)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I’ve been preparing and working on playing college football for the past 5 years. I fell in love with football in the 8th grade. I’ve been working and sacrificing to get an opportunity every day since I committed myself to this goal. Now I’m headed to the University of Miami to continue my dream.

Can you share the most interest in what exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

I had about 30 offers, and one of them was from Louisville. I had decided I wanted to commit to playing football there. The time came for signing day, and I told them I was going to commit, and they said I needed to wait because they were going to take some guys from the portal. They needed to work out their numbers. The signing day came and went, and they stopped talking to me. So late into the recruiting process, I was left with nothing and felt maybe it wouldn’t happen for me. Luckily for me, I had sent my film and information off to Miami, and they invited me down for a visit, and I knew it was the place for me. A couple of weeks later, they offered me a spot on the team, and I commuted. Things work out the way they are meant to.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

I’d recommend players stay patient through the process of recruiting. Don’t compare your journey to others.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Some so many people have helped me. Athletically and just with general life things. Willie Anderson, a Cincinnati Bengal great, has been a huge help in guiding me through the years. He set me up with my trainer Buddy Primm who has been helping me build my body. I’ve trained with other greats Like Terrance Edwards, Marcus Howard, Chuck Smith, and Dez Walker. This summer, I’ve been working on my speed and doing the Miami football workouts with Justin Brown. I’ve made incredible gains over the past six weeks because of Justin. Without all these guys, I wouldn’t be where I’m at.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I’m going to use my platform in Miami to help people. I’m unsure what I will do, but I’ve been blessed and want to give back.

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

The one thing I’ve learned about having people not believe in me is it can motivate you. But in the end, I stopped trying to prove everyone who didn’t believe in me wrong and started trying to prove the ones who did right.
