Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

“South London born breakthrough artist Jeremy-Von-Sammy (JVS) is set to become an international star. Defiant of genre boxes, the versatile rapper and singer-songwriter of Ghanaian heritage creates powerful music inspired by Jesus Christ.

I was called into music ministry at the age of 6 as a child, I grew up in the Seventh-Day-Adventist Church, praising and worshipping God through music. As well as singing in the Children’s Choir, Youth Choir and the Praise & Worship Ministry. Music is more than a passion to me, and I will always sing praises to God’s name because he is worthy of all recognition. I grew up to love music, and that passion has never left me.”

Can you share the most interest in what exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

“Rocketing from 18k streams on Spotify to 140k in less than one year, JVS has stamped his legacy onto the UK Gospel scene and beyond, seamlessly blending afrobeat’s, R&B, drill and Ghanaian music styles into his malleable sound.

Judging from the national radio play (BBC, Capital XTRA & Premier Gospel) and music awards that the rising star scooped up over the past year, JVS is going all the way up – and he’s not coming down.”

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

“God’s timing is the best, you may want things to happen at your own timing but God’s time is the best, put your faith and trust in him alone, He is the only one who can see you through!

Have some times where you focus on you and your family, this music thing isn’t easy at all, many challenges may come your way, people may put you down but you got to be strong and rise above it. At the end of the day we do music because we love it, no matter the hate you may receive it doesn’t define you as an individual you are capable of achieving anything you put your mind to it, so keep working hard but always remember that you matter the most your mental health is important so it’s key that you are putting yourself first at all times!”

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? *

“First and foremost, all Glory belongs to my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ he gave me the ability to be able to do what I am doing today, couldn’t have done it without his guidance and protection. It’s by his Grace and his grace alone that I am here today and I will continue to praise his holy name through music for the rest of my life. In my darkest days God has been with me.

I want to thank my family for their love and support throughout my musical career, I am privilege to have a loving family who have my back every step of the way, I just want to make them proud and I believe all my hard works are going to pay off. Having a strong support system is what has got me this far, all them times I wanted to give up because I wasn’t getting the exposure I thought I deserved, without my family and close friends support I wouldn’t have kept going, so I am forever grateful for each and every single one of them.”

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world? *

My music has been blessing people all over the world it’s so amazing to hear of testimonies and messages of how my songs have helped people, sometimes it gets me so emotional because there was times where I didn’t even have confidence to put out my music to now hearing stories of people being blessed by my music that’s so humbling to hear that. Souls are being won for the kingdom of God, people are finding peace and love through my music some are even experiencing the love of Christ through my music and deciding to give their life to Jesus, Glory be to God!

Do you have a favourite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“The real will always win” I wouldn’t say it’s much of a life lesson it’s a saying I will always keep close to my heart, in everything I do in this life. I will always keep it real because at the end of the day the truth will always come out good or bad, so I just keep it real to myself. I use this life lesson in my music always portraying only the things that I have gone through and experienced so that others can relate and also learn from my life mistakes. I want to be of an inspiration to the younger generation and not lead anyone astray.

Anything specific you’d like to have mentioned in the article?

One of the most memorable days of my life on the 20th of April 2019 when I gave my life to Christ wholeheartedly in baptism. From then always life become even tough the temptations grew even more but God’s voice and protection was always there guiding my paths. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The Old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17. I surrendered all to the saviour because I believe that he is the only one in this world who can lead me to the right path and who I can always count on even when people turn their back against me, God you are still there and your word remains the same yesterday and today, May your name be praised forever. Today I want to encourage a listener that I know you may not be where you want to be in life right now, but there is hope and victory in our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. In Psalms 37:5 it says Commit your ways to the Lord, trust in him, and he shall bring it to pass. What a wonderful God we serve, God always makes a way where there seems to be no way. God continues to bless us each and every day of our lives even when we as human beings don’t deserve it.
