Interview with Sharan Singh (@sharan_singh89)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My passion for traveling. My parents used to take the family on 7-8 trips every year. I picked up from there and my hunger for travel increased.

Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

I was on a flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla in Nepal with an airline called Yeti Air. Their airsick bags had little stick figure illustrations, and the lady stick figure had a sari on. It was this tiny 12 seater plane where you could see all the way in to the cockpit and you had to walk carefully as it had really low ceiling. The passengers just about had a heart attack when, mid-flight, the co-pilot rolled down his window.

It looked like a scene right from an action movie. In my head I was thinking all of us wil lget sucked out of the plane, but the co-pilot calmly used the heavy breeze to fix his hair and roll the window back up.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

Take the time to recharge. Traveling can be fun but when you consistently do it, it can burn you out fast especially if you travel across time zones. The jet lag can make you sick and bring you down. Listen to your body. Give it a rest when you feel you are tired.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My father. I was scared of getting on an airplane when I was a kid. Him pushing me constantly and letting me know that flying is the safest mode of transportation helped me get over my fear of flying.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I love helping the local people when I travel. They are welcoming us with open arms, I feel the least I can do for them is give something in return.

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

They say attitude is a choice but I like to say Altitude is a choice. Airplanes are the greatest invention in history. It connected the beautiful world.
