Interview with sadboysucks (@sadboysucks)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Ever since my dad played The Beatles on repeat, I have always loved music. The feelings,, feedback from peers, the self-satisfaction of making art has been something I have always wanted. I’ve been bullied basically my whole life and only until making music have people started to see me for something more than a punching bag. I joined the School of Rock in Bucks county, Pa where my guitar teacher (who toured with Sublime With Rome, taught me how to play and write music. After meeting several cool peeps such as: Call Me Karizma, SMRTDEATH, PWR BTTM, and ruiji, I realized being a part of the music industry is the only path I want to take.
Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?
I started TikTok on a dare. I was never going to do it but after starting, I got addicted. Everyone has been so nice and supportive. Almost at 30k, I really feel like I’ve connected with the people I have the most in common with..
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
I recommend learning a new instrument while writing. Sometimes a good song on guitar is even better when played on a piano. I also recommend producing, it’s super helpful when trying to “find a sound”..
None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
I’m thankful for all my exes. Although they prob hate me, I have to thank them for all the emotions they helped me feel (both good and bad). They helped me develop into the person I am today, they helped inspired songs that bring me back to those feelings, and they helped me feel happy with just being me. I owe everything to my exes.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
As an artist with Autism, I hope that my success could inspire someone with disabilities to achieve feats they never thought possible. I’m still working on it.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“live fast, die” -GG Allin, Although morbid, it has reminded me to give everything my full effort until I can’t.
