Interview with Rob [email protected] ROB MALLOY

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Being the youngest of four children, I was destined to be different. My siblings told me when I was a baby they used to dropped me to rush to the phone when it rang. I guess it was inevitable to stand out. It was meant for me to show that you can beat the odds, when you make that decision. Yes that’s a true story. No injuries or damages were found. Lol

Can you share the most interest in what exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

If I had to pick, it would be the time a young lady flew all the way from the other side of the country to come to a two hour event that I was hosting. After the show, she introduced herself as a social media friend and just wanted to take a picture I felt bad because I didn’t recognize her or remember her name. She was a very kind lady..

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

This a really strong question!. The first one would be to use your calendar! You will miss deadlines and opportunities by not putting all your dates on the same calendar. Personal events, doctor’s appointments – everything needs to be on the same calendar so you can stay organized and you don’t over-commit yourself. Another would be to have a small but dedicated team. You need people that aren’t going to be “yes people”. They have to be able to tell you no and tell you why. They also have to have some experience in the areas that you want to work in. They don’t have to be experts but must understand the dynamics and processes. Finally, you have to understand that now in the era of social media, your personal life is not as private as you may want it to be. You ARE the Brand. Be yourself and understand your purpose, so that you enjoy the journey and not feel like you have a ‘job”. There are no scheduled off days and no times that you can say you aren’t working – unless it is scheduled in that calendar that I mentioned before. Creating a work-life balance is critical – and requires scheduling and dedication. No, you won’t take every opportunity that is presented to you, but the right opportunities may require that you sacrifice time from family, friends, and even yourself to achieve your goals.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a person you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? *

I have worked with some incredible people along this journey. Some have been for seasons and I am grateful for the time that they were with me; there has been a small number that has been with me on the journey for the entire time. Those people I see as family. It is important to me to have my biological family and the family that I have by choice involved in my career because I know that they are here because they love and support me – not just for the check that also comes. There are many stories that I could share – but the most recent is when I had an opportunity to film a music video the same day as a branding photoshoot for a new product line that my company was launching. I couldn’t be at two places at the same time. The branding photoshoot had lots of people involved and I found out the day before that I couldn’t be there. Instead of canceling one of my business partners ,big sister and a close friend, and my mother stepped in to make the branding shoot a huge successful event. This is why I say it is critical to have a small team that is like family. I had nothing to worry about because I knew that they had my back.
This is why I say it is so important to have a team that
thin.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Every July I lend my image to a Christmas in July fundraiser in Atlanta, GA, and surrounding areas for Disabled Veterans and their families. I am honored as a US Airforce Veteran myself to be able to participate in such an important cause. This event raises money to support Veterans during the holidays and even provide assistance with household expenses.

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
