Interview with Pressat (@pressat)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
We spotted a gap in the market to provide a real outreach service for small businesses and charities, providing them with the ability to target journalists with their news and content.
Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?
Apart from our normal day to day business, something we are very proud of is that since launching we were able to onboard over 7,000 charities, non-profits and similar organisations and provide them with much needed free public relations services, the impact has been huge for these organisations, securing everything from national media placements to local radio that generated awareness for their campaigns and funding projects.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
We feel that it’s easy to think more hours equals for success, for sure in many cases this works but it just leads to burn out and the quality of works drastically declined. We recently started a once a month ice-bath routine for our office staff to in courage them to try this themselves at home using the shower. There’s some great research by Wim Hoff that has shed light on how this helps anyone deal with stress, of course this expands then into managing work.
None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
One person that stands out for our company and provides us with motivation is Sir Richard Branson, he’s got a knack for generating media coverage with his PR stunts. One that stands out for us is when he dressed in drag to serve customers on a Virgin Airlines flight, the coverage this generated for his airline was immense, it reached more or less every major newspaper in the UK and many more across the globe, all from a quirky idea that was free to do.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
Yes, as we mentioned above a huge part of our business at Pressat is providing our service free to charities and similar organisations. From the feedback we get, this has been very helpful for many of them in terms of generating awareness for the great things they do. Not many charities have funding to hire a public relations department, so this is where we can help.
Do you have a favourite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
A lot of people are scared to start a business because they are worried it will fail, again one of our favourite business persons is Sir Richard Branson, the quote we love is “You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over”
