Interview with Nii Addy (@niizus_)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I have always been interested in biology and wanted to help others stay healthy. The human body is quite amazing in how it functions and the field of respiratory issues was something that got my attention so I decided to further my career in it.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
It can be quite stressful sometimes, especially recently, to work in hospitals and see people around you who are not well. I think what is really helpful is to take some short walks if the hospital environment feels kind of stressful. For us to help others, is it also very crucial that we are also physically and mentally fit.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My parents have always supported me in following this field and also in moving from one city to another one. They did not stop me even though they were worried about me going to new places but they let me grow and learn new stuff.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
Helping people get better and improve their health is one of the best ways to bring good to the world. This is why being a medical professional is so inspiring as well because you help people recover from illnesses and save their lives. It doesn’t only help them but also their family as they can worry less about their loved ones so I think making people feel better is how I bring goodness.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.” – Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
A lot of the time, people would give their opinions on what they think is the best for you and try to make you change your decisions but you’re the one who knows your situation best. When leaving some jobs or moving to another city, people would sometimes tell that it’s risky or might not be worth it. But I took decisions according to what I thought and I still think they were good ones.
