Interview with Mel Azul (@sleepstylist)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I had been always interested in how I slept and in identifying what made me sleep better or worse. Once I began understanding what things changed the way I slept, I also started noticing the amount of misinformation floating around about sleep. I started working as a sleep coach to dispel some of that and also help other people on how to sleep better.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

It is both extremely tricky and tiring when it comes to dealing with people and their individual set of problems. I would advise everyone working in this field or a similar one what I would advise my clients – to take rests and try to sleep better.  How one rests affects how one functions.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My friends and family have been extremely supportive of my work and have helped me whenever I have needed. My clients have also helped me a lot as they are the ones who put trust in me in the first place. I will always be grateful for that.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Through my work, I try to help everyone as much as I can. I truly believe that if a person is not resting and relaxing enough, it will start showing in their daily lifestyle. I try to make sure that people avoid an unhealthy lifestyle due to the lack of sleep.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Smile more, Sleep better.” It’s very simple but it encapsulates everything I try to tell my clients and followers. To live a positive lifestyle, a person has to become positive from the inside first.
