Interview with Matz Voskamp

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I loved singing since I was a child and the passion just grew until I officially started writing and producing songs. I always wanted to make songs independently, so I did just that. It was difficult at first, but I always had my family to support me back at the end of the day. Music is what makes me happy and I want others to be happy because of it too. There is so much wrong in the world, and music is one of the few things that make it right.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Don’t listen to the haters. I know it sounds cliché, but as a young artist, I have dealt with many people trying to put me down for no reason. The only way to deal with this is to build some confidence in yourself and stick by your work. For many trying to criticize you every moment, there will always be a crowd waiting at the end of the next door to love you. It takes time if your music is different, but you will eventually find people that connect to your music so don’t give up. Always remember; stop listening and start singing.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My mom and brother whom I love with all my heart; my family is present on every occasion of success my career has in my life. I look forward to making them proud further in life. I want them to know all their efforts aren’t in vain and I will reach my goals as time permits. I also have amazing friends and a beautiful partner who cares for me a lot.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I hope I can help others with my music in their struggles. I release all types of songs; some are motivating and some people can relate to their life challenges. At the end, when my music touches people’s heart and makes their day, that is the best thing I can offer to the world.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“You are perfect the way you are. and that is facts.”

This quote is a reflection of my identity. As a child, I grew up with certain insecurities and realized that I should change somethings to feel better about myself. However, there are certain things that define you as a person and should be the reason behind your confidence. Change is good and healthy but completely changing yourself to fit in is not effective in the long term. I learned to stay true to myself, my music and my family, and this quote shows that phase of my life that everyone individually goes through in their life.
