Interview with Marcus Flowers (@slicktalkinmark)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I was always a big fan of rap while growing up. I always had a lot of rhymes in my head and wanted to write my own stuff. I started working on my own lyrics and eventually when I met the right people I started turning those lyrics into proper songs.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
My advice would be to treat music like something that you want to do rather than something you need to be perfect at. It should be a way to express yourself, not exhaust yourself.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My producer and my gang. They’re the ones who supported me when I need it the most.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
My passion and commitment to my work is my biggest contribution. Other than that, I always try to help other people who want to learn music and rap. Music is something that should bring people together. So I always try to stay true to myself.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Don’t give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you.” — John Wooden.
I didn’t always have the best support system, so I had to rely on myself to become independent. This quote helped me during the times I felt the most lonely.
How can our readers follow you on social media?
