Interview with Makaela “Kat” Bryant (@bikinimak)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

It all began when I became a Bikini Competitor in 2019; after I did the first show, I was signed to Sunshine Productions as a commercial model almost immediately after the first show. I did my first “Body Positivity Shoot” in 2020 while continuing my career as a Bikini Athlete. Then I decided to get into what I love, which is acting. I was then signed exclusively to Wright Talent Management and landed my first supporting role in a film called “The Interview,” directed by Carleton King. So actually, I’m blessed really to do what I love while competing as an NPC Bikini Competitor under Atinder Singh and Team Cutting Edge Fitness while being an actress/model. Now, I am the lead actress in the upcoming series “Circlings” (found on IMDb), and I’m also a model (the cover model in Shuba Magazine June 2022 issue 58). I went from a career IT woman to a career actress and model almost overnight. I’m still growing in my career, but given that I’m now a lead minority actress in a TV Series and model, I feel like I have more responsibility to do more with my voice and want to contribute and be light as much as I a while doing what I love most.

Can you share the most exciting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

As an actress, I have met many up-and-coming celebrities like Brittany Mcvicker and Demarcus Bumpers, excellent actors. I even got a chance to see Jason Momoa one time while in Hollywood, which was beyond amazing! As a model, traveling to the Maldives and Dubai to do a photoshoot has been a dream. Then to find out about my recent desert shoot in Dubai to make the cover of Shuba Magazine, a high-fashion magazine that has been a dream. I am blessed to experience the travel and lifestyle so many people work hard for.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

Enjoy the little moments and take time to see God’s Wonders. There is nothing like walking on the beach under the moonlight by any sea/ocean, really, and taking it all in. Also, share the moments with loved ones to make the moments that much sweeter and give back to those less fortunate than you. I always say, “Your light should warm someone’s world and brighten their day.”

None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person whom you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

There are three people I want to thank. My Mother (Althea Wright) and my Father (Anthony McCully) they’ve believed in this (and me) since I was little, even though I didn’t. I didn’t think I could or would be able to do this, but they did, and they’ve loved me through it all and continue to support me. Lastly, Atinder Singh (also known as The Alchemist) is a well-known trainer in India and took me on as his client, knowing all of the crazy projects I have. He’s a very busy man, but he’s guided my fitness journey and helped me prepare for photo shoots and shows at a moment’s notice. He’s been extremely patient with me and says, “we’ll be prepared,” whether it’s a bodybuilding show, fashion show, photoshoot, or filming. He’s truly gifted at what he does. Yet, above all, I thank God that he guides me and gives me purpose in this. I pray I make everyone proud.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I always believe in giving back to the community. I participate in charity programs that focus on underprivileged kids domestic and overseas. I dream that once I make it to the level of success in Hollywood, I can open children’s centers in developing countries and homes in the US. I want to show kids that there’s always a brighter path in the world, no matter where you started.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Live, Laugh, Learn, Light.” This is a beautiful yet straightforward quote I live by. Live each day to its fullest and give your best. Always find a reason to laugh or make someone laugh. Be willing to learn something new and share it with others. Lastly, light up someone else’s world; you should always leave someone better than you met.

Please stay tuned for “Circlings” (2022) and look for me on the cover of Shuba Magazine (June 2022). Also, check out “The Interview” (2021) by Carleton King. I have other shoots planned for more magazines, and I can’t wait to share those. Look for me in more films and TV series to come.
