Interview with Kimberly Ward (@yourmommadontdance)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Well, actually Covid did. I wasn’t a social media kind of person and when Covid hit TikTok was a great way to interact and entertain people from my home. Something I would never have done if it weren’t for the pandemic. I was in the entertainment industry for a bit when I was a little girl. Working for Kentucky Fried Chicken and as TV spots. This was in the 70’s. Long time ago! So now I am super happy to be somewhat entertaining some people…

Can you share the most interest in what exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

Yes! Cheech and Chong started following me and they only follow 100 people. I was so honored only because I grew up with these guys and they fit some of my genre. After they followed me I was invited to one of their press events for their brand. It was Ana amazing moment! The power of social media took me there! It was a blessing!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

Just keeeeeeep going! Don’t give up but take mental breaks to refresh.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person you are grateful to who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I am an orphan. Grew up in the “system”. And the fostered (but it wasn’t horrible). My number one person is Sister Ann DeNunzio who had such an impact on me … she taught me to be strong on my own. Not to rely on anyone for anything.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Of course! I just try to make people laugh a little. Giggle out loud.

Do you have a favourite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Look with your eyes, not with your mouth”.
-Sister Ann DeNunzio

Anything specific you’d like to have mentioned in the article?

Yes! As a 51 year old woman … “don’t take any crap from anyone, do you! Be you! If they don’t like it … tough.”
