Interview with Karen Guzman
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I think I’ve always just been very into staying healthy and wanting to be the best version of myself. I talk a lot about being my own inspiration on my Instagram and so I strive to keep on pushing myself. I think extending my enthusiasm helps motivate others to try and better themselves and achieve a body they can also be proud of at the end of the day.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Don’t try and be something you’re not just to please your audience. Those who appreciate what you put out into the world will always be there for you so don’t worry about pleasing outsiders. Self-love and appreciation for bettering ourselves should always come first.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
I would be nothing without my friends and beautiful family. And of course my lovely and caring husband. Thanks to him, I have never doubted myself and his support in this has been just the best motivator I could have asked for.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
As I said before, I think that when others see my Instagram, they get motivated to be a better version of themselves too. I love that. It’s so inspiring to hear what my journey of self-love and self-realization has turned into. I absolutely adore how positivity is infectious and I love how my page helps promote that attitude in this world.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
I think Ashley Graham put it best when she said; “Your words have so much power. Every day, if you tell yourself, ‘I love you,’ if you give yourself one word of validation, it will change your mind.” I really think that self-love is one of the most important aspects when you decide you want to become fit. You should realize that the body you have now is not “bad”, but just like every other part of you, it could be better. Every part of us can be improved and I don’t think that we should put ourselves down and start living a healthy lifestyle out of guilt and desperation. That’s just as bad as eating junk every day.
