Interview with Jerry (@_jedouard)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
When I was young, soccer was always around me. My dad was almost sure I had to play soccer as a soccer coach. My father played soccer at the collegiate level at Florida International University. So I chose this path because of his experience and knowledge learof ning the game daily and always being around it.
Can you share the most exciting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
My most exciting story is since starting my career. When I went on to play at the collegiate level, I transferred twice in two years. I struggled to find a home and the right fit for me. During these years, I suffered from depression and anxiety. I felt like I chose the wrong career path, or maybe soccer wasn’t my option after constant falling out with teams. Through all the bad, I’ve learned soo much, and I’ve found myself throughout the process now; I am in Europe pursuing my dreams of being a professional.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
Be able to balance fun and work. Too much of something isn’t good. There is always time to have fun go out, and enjoy friends.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My sister Jordan throughout the years when I was going through heartache and hardship and wanted to quit. She would never let me stop. She was always there for me during my darkest times, and without that, I wouldn’t have made it out, honestly.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I have recently partnered with a non-profit organisation called Capracare. Their goal is to supply and fund medical supplies in Haiti. With my parents being from Haiti and the majority of my family, it is always good to give back in any way I can.
Do you have a favourite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Victory begins in the dark” During my rough last two years at the collegiate level, I had very dark times. Later on, I realised those times and moments helped shape me today and prepare me for my next chapter in life.
