Interview with Jan Burris (grindlab_jb)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I was always related to this environment since I had been a full time professional athlete, so the rigor, the methods were all something I went through myself that’s why it became an easy bridge to merge my knowledge and experience and follow my passion of motivating people out there.
What tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Keep your eyes set on the goal and don’t overwork it! You know people sometimes get too obsessive and compulsive in the greed to achieve things faster, but here, you need to enjoy and love the process, to embrace the change and take things slow. That’s what you should practice doing and also tell your clients to follow as well.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Honestly, my coaches people who I saw teach me, my team, those people and their hard work inspired me and I still learn a lot from them and this journey is nothing without these people always having my back!
Have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I see these people entering my gym each day, telling me about their ideas, their struggles and their goals and them making me a small part of their life when they actually remember small things that I said to them, things that I recommended them to do; this change in their attitude is what makes me happy and if they stay positive like that in the world, it’s a minute change that I feel like I’m bringing to the world through them.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Work hard and stay kind”, just as simple as that.
