Interview with Jailan Attia @jellycola

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I started my career in PR and communication. Over the years I worked with and for several clients in different agencies. With the rise of social media, I was managing the corporate communications for Général Motors in the MEA region, and my personal interest in social media then lead to establishing the social media function in GM as part of the communications department. With the success of the department, I was headhunted by Red Bull to establish the digital department in the MEA région. 11 years later, I’m the head of Marketing and the regional brand manager for Multinational FMCG in the Middle East.

Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

Everyday Carries an interesting story! But being involved and a follower of all sports and sports events keeps getting interesting everyday!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

Don’t stop learning from each other! As long as you are enjoying what you do… the minute you wake up in the morning and don’t feel like going to work… it’s your sign that things need to change.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I’m truly grateful for everyone who contributed to me being me today. From my teachers in school who taught, not only subjects, but discipline, attitude and manners, to my first manager. But the big thank you goes to my manager in General Motors. As corporate communications manager I used to put together all the executive briefs for all the executive teams. The amount of time and effort she put to help me and support me with so much attention to details can not be described! I’m grateful for everything she taught me! P.S. we still talk all the time… even 11 years later after I left GM..

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I’m mentoring many students as part of my current role to become the best employees and eventually managers!

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

Live today as if there is no tomorrow and live tomorrow as if it was your first! This describes really my life. Spending energy and over thinking can be counterproductive… we make mistakes and turn them into learning! And as long as we are still learning everyday.. we can enjoy and embrace everyday to the max!
