Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
For the last eight years, I have been a freelance writer and creative, which I love, but I’ve always had a passion for fashion, specifically streetwear, and like everyone else with working tastebuds, I love trying and creating new drinks for people to enjoy. So I created a page to share all my passions and interests in one place—Jaed’s Cafe.
Can you share the most exciting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
Absolutely! So I was making an Instagram reel of new creations at my local Starbucks, and a group of kids walked up to me, saying they recognized me from a video I had made a week prior. Although I’m not a mega influencer, I still reached at least a few people, and they enjoyed what I had to share; social media is legitimately mind-blowing in the sense that you can reach one stranger or a million strangers and have an effect on their life in hopefully a positive way.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Growing up, I watched my Dad go after his dreams in multiple industries, whether it was film and television, working on the ABC original series My wife and kids starring Damon Wayans and films like Big mama’s house 2 starring Martin Lawrence, or working in LA Radio like 93.5 Kday and power 106 (105.9FM) I saw him thrive every day regardless of the highs and lows of his day it’s what he loved to do and ultimately that’s how he never burned out. If what you are doing is what you love and surround yourself with positive reinforcement, you will never get tired of what you’re doing. If you burn out, try something new and keep going until you find what you love.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person whom you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
For me, there are a few people. First being my father, my Dad raised me as a single father and somehow made a way to go after his dreams, be diagnosed with sarcoidosis and raise some knuckleheads. Unfortunately, he passed but adding to his legacy has pushed me to continue toward my goals and passions. I am second to one of my dearest friends and colleagues, Mike Fallon. A fantastic creative and future star of our industry, this guy has been here for me for every success, failure, and even my father’s passing. I advise everyone to stay on the lookout for him as an individual and my partner. And last but not least, my Son, my Prince. The single most important person in my life and the reminder every morning that I have a bigger purpose than just myself to make sure this tiny human has everything they need in this world.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
Successor not, I believe giving positivity to at least one person a day is significant, whether sharing your smile, acts of kindness like buying someone’s coffee or meal, or a single compliment! My goal is to change people’s lives as much as possible and build an online community that allows us to bless those we cross paths with.
Do you have a favourite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
One of my favourite life lesson quotes I’ve learned over time is that it’s physically impossible to push up and push down simultaneously. You can’t push up and move forward with your life while holding others down and being negative. Like everyone, I’ve made mistakes in the past and learning this changed my life 180 degrees! Positivity is King!
