Interview with Jack Parker (@sloppysurfer)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I love music. Always have, always will. So, I thought, what better way to continue loving it than pursuing it as a career. I don’t think I’ll ever regret that decision.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
Even when things look rough, I take comfort in knowing that it’s temporary. You’ll get out of that hole you think you’re stuck in. Just believe in yourself and don’t give up. Don’t look back –keep pushing through, and you’ll eventually find that light at the end of the tunnel.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My friends and my family. They’ve always had my back and stuck it out with me through thick and thin, and I’m hoping they’ll continue to do so in the future.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I think music is one of – if not the best – the best ways to bring people together, you know? Everyone finds joy in music. Not matter if you’re singing or if you’re jamming out to beats, the language of music is universal. It’s an art that, by nature, brings people closer to each other and connects us. I hope that my music does that for people too.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Trust yourself that you can do it and get it.” If you won’t trust in what you’re doing – what you’re pursuing in your life, how do you expect other people to trust you? To motivate you or buy what you’re selling, you need to show that you’re confident in what you’re putting out into this world. If not, then you can’t in good faith imagine that other people will extend that privilege to you.
How can our readers follow you on social media?
I’m on all the socials but most active on Instagram and Twitter. I go by @sloppysurfer on both. If you want to jam to my beats, you could find me SoundCloud by the same name.
