Interview with Garnett Phillip (@iamgarnettphillip)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I have been an entrepreneur since 2011. I’m currently a bar owner and finally, have a business working for me. It’s been quite a journey. I’ve always wanted to work for myself, and the drive was always within me. I’m a natural-born entrepreneur that has proven to succeed. I bartended for years while trying different businesses; I am finally at a point where it works.
Can you share the most exciting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
I opened my bar on 7/13/2020, in the middle of a pandemic. It can’t get any more interesting than that, lol!
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?
I would recommend eating healthy, drinking water, and staying positive. It is not an easy journey, and if it were, everyone would be doing it. It is a male-dominated industry, and we women are making a name for ourselves. The sky is the limit.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Yea, you are correct that nothing can achieve success with the help of others, and it’s the same in my situation too. My mother was the inspiration behind my success, and my family (my husband and children) is on my shoulders in every difficulty. I lost my mother to cancer 5yrs ago; she has been my most excellent cheerleader, and I do this for her, my two children, and my amazing husband who supports, uplifts & builds with and for me.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I have helped other Entrepreneurs join me in my ventures; I have worked with children, and I allow small businesswomen to use my space – for free despite these big things; I also love to help needy people on roadways by buying goods from them.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
Recently, a friend of mine used the word “proven” when describing me & my journey as an entrepreneur. It is very relevant because it caused me to rebrand myself and decide it was time for me to be recognized.
How can our readers follow you on social media?
