Interview with Farah Washington (@farahneoteric)
Thank you so much for joining us today. Can you please tell us what brought you into this specific career path?
As I started singing at the age of 6, I knew what I was going to do in life. I do not believe in predicting the future but rather carving my own way through life. So, as soon as I got a chance as a teen, I started working in the music studio and experimenting with sound and production.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Try to take out time for yourself. It is okay to take breaks, they just help you get you more motivated. Breaks are necessary to assert yourself and reflect. This way you perform better and get more creative.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
I’m grateful to my friends and family. My biggest motivation is my son. I used to be a singer only, it was after becoming his mother I started to expand the horizon. I am also proud of myself for coming so far and doing all this.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I try to advocate about feminism and black lives. Racism and misogyny are deep rooted in our society and I use my social media to talk about it. Nearly all my posts are either about raising awareness or motivation. I also post fun stuff because people need a little laughter as well.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Be more of you and less of them.” I have stop paying heeds to what people say about me and focus on how I see myself. I have explored worlds and I have to explore many more, in doing so, I have to stop being what people want me to be.
How can our readers follow you on social media?
