Interview with Elena Gabrielle (@elenagabrielle)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I was always an active and animated person, even as a child. I had more energy than I knew what to do with and some of my antics made the people around me really wonder where I was creating all of it! I think it was from then on that I realized how gratifying it is to make people around you happy, and over 10 years ago, I formally entered the comedy industry.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Be yourself. In comedy, you can never really be sure that your humor will always attract people to you. There is an insane amount of creativity and talent hidden in the world, so staying at the top of your game is key!

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My friends and family always encouraged me when it came to comedy and were never repelled by the idea of it not being a stable job. Their incessant support and encouragement were what kept me going and I will always be really grateful to them!

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

By making people happy! What bigger form of goodness is even out there? If someone at my show can forget about their worries or stress for even a minute, then I’ll know I did something good.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Be so happy that when others look at you, they become happy too.”

For me, comedy is more about making others happy rather than just making them laugh about something they’ll forget moments later. But with all of this, I realized the importance of keeping myself happy as well. I mean, have you ever made someone laugh by delivering an awesome joke with a sour expression? Exactly, it wouldn’t work!
