Interview with Devo Tarantino (@devtarantino)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I’ve always wanted to become a music artist. I grew up off of Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, and Papa Roach. Listening to them inspired me to this day to purchase my first microphone, laptop, and speakers. The whole setup came out to like $600. I ended up learning from others from my hometown, how to edit music and make beats. Then I just grew from there.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Since I’ve started making music, the coolest thing that’s happened to me is meeting Sammy Adams. Listened to him when I was in high school and then I ended up being on stage with him in 2014. That guy is good vibes.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Always releases quality over quantity. Also, don’t just wait to make music for the trends. Do it how you want to do it. Also, the industry is all about connections. Go out and make a friend, constantly show your music, don’t be afraid to take risks.

Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

One person I can say I’m very appreciative of is my mother. She helped me start my career by buying me studio equipment to learn mixing and mastering. She has always supported me since day 1. There is not one person that has stuck by my side as much as she has. I owe her my life. She inspires me to work hard because of how our lives were growing up.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I write about my situations from the past mostly or someone that I know. Some songs I write can be very deep and taken wrong but I make music for my own therapy not for anyone else. It’s almost like an escape to me.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

I never really went by any quotes because I usually forget a lot of stuff. I just always motivate myself every day by telling myself “if you want something in life, you’ll do whatever in your power to get it or get it done.” Goes for everything I do.
