Interview with Deontae Adams (@talkabouttae)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
My love for basketball aside, I grew up around people like my family who loved basketball and seeing all that, I had a natural inclination to the sport because it also helped me take my mind off my studies when they got too much.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
When you’re a student, it’s super easy to get side tracked and lose focus on the important things in life. Sports is important, but your education and drive are also important and keeping sight of your priorities will get you far.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Norman Thomas and Kobe Bryant. My coach helps me improve and get one step closer to my dream every day, and Kobe always inspired me to never give up and reach far and beyond because nothing is impossible if you try.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I don’t think I’m at that level yet, but if I can inspire people to follow their dreams one day, then that would be great!
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.” – Kobe Bryant.
I looked up to Kobe as a person and an athlete and he always followed his philosophies and made things work rather than throwing empty words around. It was his presence in the world of basketball that inspired me and gave me the push I needed.
