Interview with Costin Tarsoaga (@costin006)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

On my last university years, I got passionate about hospitality Industry, where I first got as bar tender on an exotic bar beach! From there (always wanted to become better in what I’m doing) I just elevate my game, winning bartending competitions on national and international level. I start teaching in a Bar Academy in Europe and competing in the same time. In this time I realize that my real goal was to become a Hospitality Consultant. This is why I follow up this path and come to New York to do my master at Cornell University. The rest is history.

Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

One funny story is regarding a fellow aficionado Steve Schneider, that is very successful in US, where I just moved, texted me that read about me in a book with famous stories around the world!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

You have to follow (first of all) the instructions that are coming with your job description! Make sure also that your passionate about what your doing!

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

First time when I moved to US, I search help on the few people that I met them along the way, on my journey. One was (maybe the most amazing mixologist that ever lived) Gary Reagan, an unbelievable human being and one of many skills in our industry. He used to have a popular news letter where he offer to publish my resume in order to find a job. I wrote a very complex resume trying to impress the audience! He told me being willing to start from zero and be humble is a bigger achievement that impressing people with my past! It really changed my life!

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Helping people understand their direction in life is my thriving goal! Changing a person by giving him/her direction I think is the most important!

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

I had to leave Europe and leave everything behind in order to achieve my goals. ” The choices we make, dictate the life we lead!” I have a hundred stories about, but I guess everyone has…is about the choices and the mistakes and the trues, most important is how we react to all of this. This is the thing that define us!
