Interview with Chelsea LeSage (@chelsea.lesage)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Ever since I was a kid, I enjoyed music, theatre, and acting. In high school I was part of the theatre and when I finally turned 18, that’s when I moved away to New York to achieve my dreams. I got into the scene and started doing what I loved. It didn’t come by easy, but I’m just thankful that I’m finally where I need to be.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Its different for everyone, I think, but for me, it helped when I kept myself grounded. Initially, things overwhelmed me. I got stressed out and anxious over the smallest thing, but I actively remind myself to take breaks because the world can wait. I am my first priority.

None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Of course, I have my co-workers and friends to thank for seeing potential in me and supporting me through all my creative endeavours. But most of all, I want to thank the women in my life, especially my grandma and my mother. I feel so lucky to have such amazing people around me, it makes me want to be better for them.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I am a part of this modelling agency called ‘We Speak.” The reason why I decided to join this specific agency was for its objectives: to spread body positivity and preach about acceptance. I feel like too many of us bully ourselves for the way we look or dress, and I say we are all beautiful. I say we all love ourselves first before anything else and that is something I truly want to invest more time in; to help people love themselves.

Do you have a favourite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

Something that I will stand by, and what speaks volumes to me is this quote by Ellen DeGeneres “Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are.”
