Interview with B.Roach (@b.roach)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I have always been interested in Mental Health and Social Justice Reform. When I first Joined TikTok I did not realize the power it had and the ability it had to literally amplify someone’s voice and allow them to be heard as long as they were willing to speak. Once I realized this power it held, I started using it full force to the best my ability to help people and create change, using my own life experiences.

Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

One day I was at my local grocery store getting a few things I needed for the house. While I was walking down an aisle I noticed this girl kept starring at me, eventually she came up to me and asked if I was b.roach form TikTok, I replied yes. She immediately broke down in tears and told me how my mental health videos help her a lot and that she really loves my content. That was the first time anything like that has ever happened to me, but it only reassured me that what I am doing is making a difference in people lives. It was awkward but a good awkward, just because Like I said I never experienced anything like that before

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

I would suggest just create content you are passionate about. Always stay true to yourself and who you are. Do not try to be someone or something you are not, unless you’re trying to create like a satire character or something like that. Just press record and let your camera or phone record your authentic self. By just being yourself it takes pressure away from always trying come up with new content ideas. If your always just being yourself, the content comes much easier and less stressful.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? *

Absolutely, I would have to say my parent’s, my wife and my kids. They have always been my rock. There isn’t really a specific story. They just always been there and they have always been one hundred percent supportive in everything I do, including the this journey.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world? *

I try to help people navigate through their mental health issues and problems they have going on in their lives. I try to help them understand their feelings and what exactly they are going through. I have also been bringing to light the need for change within the justice system as well as other social injustices that are going on within the world. From recent things like the war in Ukraine, the Uvalde School Shooting, to the most recent over turn of Roe v Wade. I try to be the voice for the people who didn’t have an opportunity to voice their opinions. For the people who do have a voice, I try and be their echo and amply their voice by not standing in front of them or behind them, but side by side with them in their fight. Ensuring that their voice are heard by the people who need to hear them

Do you have a favourite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

You shouldn’t dwell on the mistakes of your past, those you cannot change. But your future isn’t made yet, and the future is the only thing you can help dictate. People get so caught up on the things that they have done in their past or mistakes they have made, the loose sight of the present and their future. You have to let who you were go and focus on who you want to be now and from now on. I am guilty of letting my past restrict my future and it look awhile for me to learn how to change my mind set and accept that the past is the past and that’s where it stays, behind me.

How can our readers follow you on social media?

I have an Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. However, I have found TikTok to be the most effective in allowing me to reach people and allow me to create the content I enjoy creating for my Followers and potential future followers

Anything specific you’d like to have mentioned in the article?

I would just like to remind people, life is so fast and before you know it, it passes you by. Take the time to enjoy the present, slow down and enjoy the little things in life, often times those little things, are what means the most and we realize that later on in life.
