Interview with Austin Saunders (@asaun24)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Was a combat veteran, and a stage 4 cancer survivor, always loved the fitness industry and finally pursued my dreams and became a bodybuilder.

Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer while in the army in 2010. I did a clinical trial with extensive chemotherapy and beat it, I then shortly went to the infamous US Army Ranger School and graduated. I placed first place in my second bodybuilding competition in 2021.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

The only competition is yourself, stay dedicated and determined and prove everyone wrong that has ever doubted you.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My wife Maili Saunders has supported me since the very beginning in the bodybuilding lifestyle. She helps me maintain my diet, works out with me, and helps me get through all the rigorous times of bodybuilding.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Yes. I’ve used my social media platform and my story to help those battling cancer, veterans who have felt neglected since coming home from war, and to motivate and educate fitness enthusiasts around the world.

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Prove Them Wrong”. Doctors and a people I’ve met throughout my life over the years have said you’ll never be in the same physical shape you were before cancer and chemotherapy. People have also said that the bodybuilding sport is to hard and you will never win. I have since proved every one wrong and use that quote to fuel myself to achieving my goals and dreams.

How can our readers follow you on social media?

They can follow me @asaun24. I post daily motivational workout videos and diet tips.

Anything specific you’d like to have mentioned in the article?

That I served 13 combat deployments as a military special operations soldier and private military contractor.
