Interview with Andre Kim Pham (@andrekpham)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
I’ve always enjoyed travelling and taking photos. I loved recalling my experiences and wanted to document all the fun times I’ve had through my photography. Something I truly enjoy doing is capturing the moments between people and their emotions through a lens.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
I think that no matter how hard life gets and how many things you have piled over your plate, never lose your aim; always remember why you’re doing what you’re doing and remind yourself to take it one step at a time. The world can wait, you have to take care of yourself first, no matter what.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My parents and the whole family have been my rock since day one. My friends, their support and love have kept me going and I truly thank all of them for giving me space and motivation to pursue what I love doing.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I think with my profession, aside from taking pictures and all, I just love seeing people happy and smiling all the time. With every “say cheese!’, I see them smile and capturing that moment fills me with joy. I want the world to smile and express happiness as that what I aim to achieve through what I do as a photographer.
Do you have a favourite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
I think this quote basically encapsulates my photography as a whole:
“There is one thing that photography must contain, the humanity of the moment” – Robert Frank
