Interview with Alex Seitaj (@alexseitaj)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Usually different artists realize they want to pursue their artistic careers when they are very young. I was not one of them. It has been a bumpy ride for me and I understood I wanted to become an actor in high school. I participated in a talent show organized in my home town, I could never imagine that I would fall in love with acting and see it as a career opportunity. Show business is a hard path but I guess, if you love what you do and if you apply yourself to the fullest, you can carve out of it a very interesting career.

Can you share the most interest in exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

I was pretty comfortable with everything regarding the path that I chose. But there is one thing that no one is prepared for. And that is: FAME. It is strange to see people you don’t know talking to you, like they’ve been knowing you for year (and actually they do). But also the most beautiful part, I guess , is the numerous fans asking just for hugs and thanking you because somehow, your work has impacted their lives and has inspired them. I have been opened about my struggles with anxiety and also I have tried to give my life learned tips publically. I guess that has been very helpful to my fans but also everyone who is dealing with these issues.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

Money is important, I know. But more important is your well being. When you reach a point in your career you will probably be bombarded by offers and projects. Some of them may be stressful and at that point, an artist should learn how to say: NO! It is important to chose the battles. Sure you may lose money with that. But you will be recharged to deal with other projects maybe more profitable. Also it’s better to take a pause and relax than risk your system to shut down, burn out and take months of self repairing or even therapy. It may sound funny but “Rome was not build in a day” and my advice would be “take it easy”.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? *

In this case I can proudly say that I did not have any help in my journey. I had people supporting me or inspiring me, but I guess that’s the help I needed. Usually in the arts field, everyone is connected. Families of artists produce new artists. I was born in a family of accountants, so this road that I was about to take, I had to walk it alone. Of course, some other people had it easier but still, I would do everything exactly the same.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world? *

That is one of arts great missions! I use my platform to raise awareness regarding many social issues, such as racism, mental health, bullying etc … Also I had the pleasure to work with different NGOs in Albania or other countries. I guess art and activism go side by side. I also use my social media to promote these organizations and to help people in need. It’s been a while now, that I am doing an Instagram “story chat” with my fans, where they write their issues and I try, in my best, to give them advice, humor and cheer them up basically.

Do you have a favorites “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

You can have many dreams, but you only have “one” self. You should take care of yourself then concentrate on your dreams. Physical and mental health are very important.

Anything specific you’d like to have mentioned in the article? *

I want the readers to know that sometimes things are easier than they seem. It is important to take a pause and assess the situation. The struggles may blurry your vision and your cold thinking. It is important to relax and watch things in a different perspective. There you will see that it’s not the end of the world and sometimes struggles are very easy to overcome. Art and showbiz are very challenging but that is also the beauty of it. Artists love challenges, so my advice would be: Enjoy everything, the good times, the hard times because they are all part of the journey. At least you are walking.
