Interview with Akora TCG (@akoratcg)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
This company started because when I was in school I created stories of another universe which was based around monsters and alchemy. I made the story come to life many years later through the card game and Japanese comic.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
The journey was a long arduous process starting from sample prints and making a couple of cards to launching a very successful kickstarter which raised $300,000 in funding and printing millions.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
reward yourself regularly with time away from working and set yourself points in the day where you take a break from working. It is very easy to fall into the trap of working long hours constantly.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My girlfriend helped me keep going throughout the whole process. There was a lot of negativity involved and it was hard for me to focus on working when that’s all I was surrounded by but she kept me steady.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
We recently auctioned off a sample product which was limited print and all the proceeds went to a children charity. We have taken on a large portion of very passionate fans of the game who have stood by us throughout and helped the brand with their skills and to reward them I have offered long-term contracts to those individuals.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
Ignore what everyone says about you or your goals and continue your path because people will always try to bring you down to their level, so do not succumb to it.
How can our readers follow you on social media?
we are active on instagram (@akoratcg) and facebook (Akora Trading Card Game on Facebook)
Anything specific you’d like to have mentioned in the article?
We just released our newest product Spellbound Wings 1st Edition and we sold 7,500 boxes direct to consumer from our website, which was extremely surprising and amazing, we never foresaw that happening. We have partnered up with many distributors across the world who are extremely well connected to Local Game Stores within their regions. For America we have Channel Fire Ball and SouthernHobby, Canada we have Prince Distribution and for Australia LetsPlayGames are our handling our product.
