Interview @ ShapeUpKing (theshapeupking)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Growing up my family struggled financially and we were not able to afford professional haircuts. This made me and my brother the victim of bullying in school. So I decided to take things into my own hands and gave my brother a haircut. Soon I realised this was something I was good at and eventually decided to make a career out of it.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Make sure you are able to do good for the people around you. It gives you a sense of purpose and keeps you motivated even when things get hard.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My family has been my biggest source of support. My need to build a better life for my daughter has kept me motivated.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I try to make sure my services are accessible to those who cannot afford them. I recently offered my services for free to people who have been unemployed because of the pandemic.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“Make improvements, not excuses. Seek respect, not attention.”
It is important to keep working to improve your life and seek something better. Make a name for yourself in your community and get the respect of other people.
