Interview Obed Dominguez @obeddominguezofficial

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Ever since growing up I’ve always wanted to help people in bettering their lives whether that’s financially or lending them a helping hand. I found this to be the case when I joined the solar industry back in 2018. Over the course of my career, I’ve sold 8-figures worth of solar equipment. The solar industry is the best sales industry right now on planet earth. Sales reps can make anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 in a month. Average sales commission in the solar industry is about $3,500. You multiply that by 4 and you’re already making 6-figures every year if you are consistent. The best part of this is that the consumer is literally saving money off their electric bill and we’re also helping the environment. Not only do we get to make a lot of money and save homeowners lots of money as well, but we are creating so many jobs from manufacturing to logistics around the country. This is the type of growth the country needs, and it will come thank you the solar industry.

Can you share the most interest in what exciting happened to you since you started doing this?

The most interesting story was back in California when I was selling solar door to door in Orange County. I and my co-workers would not go one week without getting the cops called on. This is a most interesting story because this is what built who I am. I am not going to lie, during my time in Orange County, CA I always wanted to quit. Imagine having the cops called on every week. It was so mentally draining that I wanted to go back home. I decided to keep on going because I realized even if I fall again at least I tried, and it gets me closer to leveling up my sales skills. I eventually ended up breaking through the ice in Orange County and started my own sales company along with my 2 co-workers. We grow it to 7 figures in sales within 4 months and expanded to new markets.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them thrive and not “burn out”?

If people want to thrive in this industry, they will need to find a mentor who is having success. It is very important to be surrounded by like-minded individuals that are on the same mission as you. If you are not surrounded with like-minded individuals, I guarantee you will burn out in no time. What I’ve noticed is that people want to be the CEO of everything they do and what they don’t realize is that sometimes life will give you much more success in a position that is not CEO. I’ve seen it firsthand; people will try to go and start their own companies and then they fail because they didn’t ask themselves if they were really meant to lead in this industry.

None of us can succeed without some help along the way. Is there a particular person you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I will always be grateful to Mikey Cavaleri. He is one of the people who mentored and trained me when I arrived in Orange County, CA. He believed in me when a lot of other people from the organization didn’t. Frankly, I think if it wasn’t for him, I would have never even gone out to CA. He’s a true leader and leads from the front.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I’ve used my success to bring goodness to the world by donating to various non-profits. The company I used to be a shareholder back in 2020 would donate a percentage to “Bridges”, a non-profit from Memphis, TN that teaches underprivileged kids to be leaders in their communities. I’ve always donated to various causes I see on social media depending on which I feel strongly about. I don’t really announce those type of things because I don’t want the publicity about it. My own personal opinion.

Do you have a favorite “written Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.”- Jim Rohn That is one of my favorite quotes because it reflects on what I was going through when I started selling solar in Orange County, CA. When I was wanting to give up and call it quits back in 2019, I came across this quote and it hit me so hard because I thought I was giving it my all but then I really started getting into the mentality of risking it all no matter how many times I fall. I started risking the unusual because I’ve always known that I never wanted to settle for the ordinary, then good things happened, and I tasted success.
