Interview @ Flying Matte (ilmattechevola)
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
This is not a career path but just a passion for flying. I got divorced in 2015 and I decided to do something for myself. I always had the dream to become an airplane pilot but I never did it. Hence, I decided to start a pilot school, and that’s it, I found a fantastic passion.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
Well, as a pilot, the best story is the first time I flew alone. This is called “Volo solo” and is a very exciting story that you will never forget. The second-best story I can share is the ferry flight that I made last September when I picked up my new aircraft in the factory in the Czech Republic. I flew 4 to 5 hours to Milan in Italy. It was simply amazing. It was the first time that I flew abroad.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
I recommend all people that have the dream to become a pilot to do it! It’s a little expensive but it’s also therapy. Flying helps you to clean your brain and train you to concentrate on something you like.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
I’m grateful to Nando Groppo, the man who invented the ultralight Category in Italy. One day he invited me to have a flight with him and when we landed I immediately subscribed my first flight school. I always say that Nando gave me the wings.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
Thanks to my passion for flying! I have often convinced people who were afraid of flying to fly with me. In addition to this, I have offered my small plane to the non-profit organization known as “Make a Wish” to give the opportunity to seriously ill children who have the wish to fly.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
“The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul”. When you flight, you become one and only body with the airplane. And this is the cause of freedom. This is what pushes me to take off and fly.
